Many people think that when web professionals come up with an exciting new design for their business website that it’s all arbitrary. In other words they pull it out of a hat.
Such raw creativity can be fun but it’s rarely useful.
The best site design takes into account normal human behaviour as observed on the web and a little bit of psychology.
That’s why it’s so important that colours are just right, that the nav bar is in the best place possible, that the design looks good and sells a message.
What message would that be you may ask?
Well that depends on your business, your organisations values and it’s history, also it’s got to match and fit in with all of your other marketing activities such as magazine adverts, any TV and radio ads, flyers, business cards and so on.
In other words your website has to not only sell a message but it has to work as a dynamic piece of your over all marketing that reassures your customers that they’ve come to the right place!
It’s also no good designing a high tech and modern looking website for your traditional and time served business. It just won’t work no matter what you do if the site looks and feels ‘wrong,’ doesn’t build any trust or encourage any communication or contact between the customer and yourselves.
For example, did you know that 90% of people get on the web to find a telephone number.
So why do most sites bury it on the contact us in small print, it’s because they don’t want any telephone calls, despite the fact that most of their customers want to speak to them.
Phone calls are expensive, require a member of staff and cause interruptions to other service delivery, but they are nevertheless important because they give you an opportunity to sell your products or services to a brand new and fresh customer who has beaten a path to your door. The public have been educated over generations to see the telephone as a great way to get information and buy goods.
If you don’t want telephone calls you have to be subtle about it and use your site to get clients to contact you in other ways through clever design and clear, obvious prompts.
That’s why at CPTsolutions.biz we listen to your needs, find about about your business and see how your new website would fit into your existing strategy or help you create one if you don’t have a pre-existing marketing tactic.
